The cost of living is different between the US and Cameroon.  When Cameroonians say to me that Americans have more money, I often remind them that the cost of living in the US is much higher and everything cost more expensive in the US including food and housing.  I have given them examples of cost differences which include bananas, eggs, apartment and clothing.  I explain to them that because cost of living is higher in the US, many American still face financial challenges.

While the cost of living in Cameroon may appear to be less than in the US, the salaries are much lower in Cameroon.  Many Cameroonians earn only about US $200 or less a month, and therefore, they still face financial challenges too.
